KIDS' GUIDE TO MDI
Welcome to MDI, a kid-friendly island. This website is for kids, by kids! Take a journey through what we wrote.

About
The 2015-2016 3rd graders at Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Maine (located on Mount Desert Island) made this website. We made it for visitors to learn about MDI. Before this, MDI didn't have a kid website- only grown-up websites!!!!! Because we are kids we can share our perspective. We want kids to have fun stuff to do on our awesome island. Have fun exploring!
The Process
First, we were presented with a problem: there’s no kids’ website for MDI! We brainstormed what should be on one and what our own interests were. We picked groups to be in.
Next, we had group challenges to learn to work collaboratively. We did a hula hoop challenge and a marshmallow challenge.
Then, we brainstormed topics for our website.
After that, we made plans and started collaborating to research, plan and make our website pages. In our big groups, we broke into even smaller groups.
We did so much! We read, researched, planned, went on field trips, held interviews, took pictures, and WROTE, WROTE, WROTE!
Finally, we took all that information and we made it into a big website for kids. We planned a launch party to celebrate the hard work we did and to share it.
