KIDS' GUIDE TO MDI
The Great Head Trail is an easy hike for kids in 3rd grade. Once we went there, and we will tell you about the trip!
There are many ways to get to the Great Head Trail. For example, we went across Sand Beach, then we built a bridge across the lagoon because it was high tide. So if you come at high tide, you have to build a bridge or prepare to get your feet wet! If you don’t feel like getting your feet wet, go back to the parking lot and follow the trail that way. It will take you longer, but that’s ok.
On the Great Head Trail, there are some steep parts that you need all fours to climb up. Sometimes you need to look where you’re stepping because there are some ledges- watch your step! There are also parts where you go through woods. There are some parts that are clear and you will have great views of the ocean, Sand Beach, and Otter Cliffs. We suggest you stop, have a snack and enjoy.
At the top there was an old tea house that you can see and it’s all broken down. There are many different trees up there, so if you like plants, it’s your lucky day!
So now you know why the Great Head Trail is an awesome hike for kids and parents. So go there now!
